The corvette zr1 c8 went gallivanting across the US East Coast, setting some blistering lap times.
The one thousand and sixty-four horsepower corvette zr1 c8 visited five different US racetracks and established five lap records. Did they do it with Randy Pobst at the helm? No. They did it with the engineers and the manager!
corvette zr1 c8 visited Watkins Glen (Long Course) with driver Bill Wise (Lead Performance Engineer, Chassis Control) and set a time of 1:52.7. They went to Road America with Brian Wallace (the Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer). They set a time of 2:08.6. Next up is Road Atlanta, where Chris Barber (Lead Development Engineer) achieved a record of 1:22.8. Aaron Link (Global Vehicle Performance Manager) broke the record at Virginia International Raceway (Full Course) with a time of 1:47.7. Then he repeated it on the VIR Grand Cour at 2:32.3.
The records were established using a pre-production car with the ZTK Package, which includes a rear wing, front dive planes, and a tall hood Gurney lip made of carbon. Strakes were installed underneath to replace the standard front underwing stall Gurney, providing additional downforce. Stiffer springs and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tires complete the package needed to break records.
I doubt any CAD creator or physics number cruncher could match these GM engineers and managers. All were thoroughly vetted before taking the ZR1 out on the track. They were said to have 65 years of “GM Level 6 driving experience” and have Nürburgring Industry Pool accreditation.
“Corvette ZR1 continues to showcase how this nameplate elevates at every corner,” Corvette executive chief engineer Tony Roma remarked. “From design, engineering, development, validation, to driving and setting incredible lap records like these – we do it all in house.”
