It took a few years, but wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins finally got his wish to play with Lamar Jackson.
According to insiders, DeAndre Hopkins signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, with a maximum value of $6 million. Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, will be the most decorated wide receiver to catch Jackson’s passes.
DeAndre Hopkins has always admired the two-time NFL MVP, declaring him “one of the greats” in May 2023.
“I would be lying to sit here and say it wouldn’t be an honor one day to play with a great guy and a great quarterback like Lamar,” Hopkins said in an interview for the “I Am Athlete” podcast last week.
The NFL’s reigning No. 1 offense now includes Hopkins (12,965) and Derrick Henry (11,423) as the active leaders in receiving yards and running yards, respectively. They are reunited after playing together for the Tennessee Titans in 2023.
Hopkins joins a young and promising Baltimore wide receiver group that includes Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. The Ravens are hoping Hopkins can fill the No. 3 receiver position after Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor failed to meet expectations.
Jackson is coming off his most productive passing season. Last year, he posted career highs of 4,172 passing yards and 41 touchdowns.
Hopkins, 32, joined the Chiefs in a midseason trade with the Titans in 2024, with Kansas City surrendering a conditional 2025 draft pick to Tennessee in exchange.
DeAndre Hopkins caught 41 catches for 437 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games (five of which he started) with Kansas City. He also has three receptions for 29 yards and one touchdown in three postseason games (two starts), including a 2-18-1 line in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
DeAndre Hopkins was hampered by a knee injury at the outset of training camp. Including his six games with the Titans, he finished 2024 with 56 receptions for 610 yards and five touchdowns. The 56 catches were his fewest in a full season since his rookie year in 2013.
Hopkins joined the NFL as a first-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2013 out of Clemson. He has spent 12 seasons with the Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Titans, and Chiefs.
Hopkins, a three-time first-team All-Pro, has had four seasons with 100 or more catches and seven seasons with more than 1,000 yards. He led the league in touchdown receptions with 13 in 2017 while with the Texans.
Hopkins ranks 16th in all-time receptions (984), 21st in yards (12,965), and tied for 26th in touchdowns (83).
