SalamAir Plans to Almost Double Fleet Size Within Three Years | hoobae

It plans to lease ten planes by 2028.

SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost airline, aims to leverage the increased demand for budget travel in both domestic and regional markets. Its low-fare strategy has been well accepted in the market, with full planes and more demand than the airline can accommodate. To close the gap, SalamAir has contacted several aircraft lessors about adding 10 more Airbus A320s to its fleet over the next three years. The requests were made in accordance with the growth targets for the next five years.

Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of SalamAir, said in an official statement:

Our expansion over the next five years will necessitate the acquisition of additional aircraft in order to generate more domestic and regional routes and introduce locations that are currently underserved by airlines. These efforts would increase tourism in Oman and assure faster growth in the sector.

He also added:

We see other airlines attempting to enter this market due to the evident demand; this is good since competition will lower fares and benefit the consumer.

SalamAir currently has 13 aircraft in operation. Two new Airbus A321s will enter the airline’s fleet in 2025. With the 10 extra jets it desires, the total number of aircraft will rise to 25 by 2028.
