Unimatic x Henry Singer Reveal the Modello Tre U3S-HS Mechanical Watch | hoobae

What We Know About Unimatic Watches

Unimatic introduced its first mechanical chronograph, the Modello Tre ref. U3S-HS, last week as part of a new cooperation with Canadian menswear retailer Henry Singer. Technically, it isn’t the first that honor goes to the one-of-a-kind U3S-TFA unveiled last year, which sold at the Swiss Institute’s Time for Art auction for slightly more than $20,000, with revenues benefiting the Swiss Institute’s initiatives.

Following the success of the mechanical Modello Tre chronograph, it is unsurprising that a public version will be released in the future. While the original painting was stark black and white, this public version reduces the contrast to a ghostly all-grey effect highlighted with white printing. This is all contained within a traditional Unimatic hefty steel case measuring 40mm in diameter and 15.2mm tall. A grey ceramic diving bezel supplements its insert with Super-LumiNova infilled markings. A screw-down crown and massive screw-down pushers ensure the watch’s 300m water resistance.

Turn the U3S-HS around to reveal a sapphire exhibition case back, a feature not typically found on Unimatics. Behind it is the classic Sellita SW510 BH B automatic chronograph movement, which has a power reserve of 62 hours. The U3S-HS comes with a fully brushed steel bracelet and an additional gray leather two-piece strap. It is limited to 36 pieces and retails for €2950 at both Unimatic and Henry Singer locations.

What We Think

It was only a matter of time before Unimatic introduced a mechanical version of their popular Modello Tre chronograph. After several years of offering a Mecaquartz edition, the move to a fully mechanical timepiece feels like a natural progression for the brand.

The new mechanical Modello Tre stays true to Unimatic’s signature aesthetic. It features a streamlined, purposeful design that complements the bold and rugged lines of its brutalist case. The result is a watch that balances raw industrial appeal with refined functionality.

This updated chronograph reflects Unimatic’s commitment to evolving its collection while staying rooted in its minimalist ethos. The mechanical upgrade brings a sense of depth and craftsmanship that many collectors have been waiting for.

At The Dink, we’ve always had a fondness for an all-grey aesthetic. There’s something effortlessly cool and timeless about a design that embraces a single, subdued palette.

While this piece holds its own in terms of structure and form, it’s the monochromatic execution that truly stands out. For those who value understated, tonal styling, this is where design meets refined simplicity.

The initial Unimatic cooperation with Henry Singer was a huge success. It was the first time we saw a GMT version of the fixed-bezel Modello Quattro. The bead-blasted steel case, along with beige accents, produced an extremely appealing appearance. This new Modello Tre maintains the grey design but opts for a considerably cooler tone.

Make no mistake: this is a huge watch. The male end links on the bracelet surely assure a huge fit, so if you’re like the Modello Uno and it is just a little oversized, the mechanical Modello Tre may be more difficult to wear. However, for the many Unimatic enthusiasts with standard or larger wrists, this will undoubtedly be a delightful and unmistakably Unimatic wearing experience.
